Books and Supplies Payment (Stipend)
Unlike other education benefits, Post-9/11 GI Bill-Chapter 33 offers a yearly stipend of up to $1,000 per year for books and supplies. The stipend is paid based on the number of credit hours the student takes. The student is paid $41.67 per credit hour up to 24 credits in an academic year.

Members on active duty are also entitled to this payment.

On October 1, 2011, individuals enrolled in a degree program while on active duty will be eligible for the books & supplies stipend of up to $1,000.00 per academic year. The rules for calculating books and supplies payments are the same as those for Veterans. For NCD schools a lump-sum books & supplies stipend in an amount equal to $83 for each month (prorated for partial months and benefit level).
