Independent Training, Distance Learning, & Internet Training

The GI Bill is available for Independent, Distance or Internet training. This type of training is usually offered by IHLs and similar rules & rates apply.

Under the Post-9/11 GI Bill, you must be currently be enrolled in at least one classroom course to receive the housing allowance. Effective October 1, 2011 you will be eligible for 1/2 the national average BAH rate ($673.00 for the 2011 academic year) if you are enrolled solely in Independent, Distance, or Internet Training, if you are enrolled in at least one classroom course you will receive the full housing allowance for the school's BAH area.
