Correspondence Training

This type of training is different from Distance Learning based on the means of delivery. Usually in Correspondence Training you receive lessons in the mail and have a certain amount of time to complete and return them for a grade.

Not available for children training under the Dependents' Educational Assistance program (Chapter 35).

Payment Amounts

While the participation requirements are the same for all GI Bill programs, the payment amount varies depending on the GI Bill program you are utilizing. Payment amounts are made quarterly after VA receives certification of lessons completed from the school.

Post-9/11 GI Bill Recipients

VA will reimburse you the lesser of the net actual costs for in-state tuition & fees assessed by the school for the program being pursued or a maximum amount allowed by law which changes annually. To see the annual maximum rates click here.

All Other GI Bill Programs

VA will reimburse you 55% of the approved costs for this type of training.
